I'm looking for a pair of good headphones for use both on the go with my iPhone 5s/iPad 2 without amping and at work on my PC via a Fiio E10 Olympus USB DAC & headphone amplifier.
I currently have a pair of Sennheiser HD 25-1 II Adidas Originals which I love, (used mainly with my iPad) and I use some Sennheiser CX 400 earphones with the Fiio in the office. I want a pair of headphones that sound great without requiring any EQ, and preferably has iDevice compatibility (mic and remote) for when I'm OTG. Something with a little less clamping force than my Senns would be great too.
I listen to a wide variety of music - mainly in the pop, rock, R&B, hip hop and electronic genres (think iTunes 'Song of the Week'). I'm not a bass head, but I do like a bit. I had a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre Beats Solo HD on-ear headphones, but they didn't hang around for long as I thought they sounded muddy.
I've read a lot of reviews here, and I've a preference for closed over-ear headphones, as I already have a good pair of on-ears. From the reviews I've read, I'm leaning towards the Sennheiser MOMENTUM over-ear headphones, PSB M4U 2 - and I've liked the AIAIAI x Carhartt TMA-1 since I first saw them... I know they're not over-ear and probably don't have the sound I'm looking for, but they're just so cool!
I don't think I want to spend quite as much as the B&W P7s.
I'd appreciate any recommendations.
