I have a Meridian 508.20 I'm toying with selling now for a few reasons and may have a buyer willing to pay a good price for it in turn.

It's served me well for about 7 months now, but I'm curious as to what else is out there and am particularly interested in purchasing a piece that will continue to retain its value.

My music preferences used to be toward the warm/rich side, but lately I find myself favoring the accuracy and resolution of my vinyl rig and would love a CDP with a similar signature to my Dynavector 20X-L & P-75 setup. Perhaps with a bit more visreal bass.

I already have a bunch of isolation tweaks to use with it (Neuance Shelf, Mappleshade Tripplepoints, Mapple cutting boards, etc.) now, where should I be looking? Wadia?

FYI it will be mated with a Unison Unico, Bogdan BSSR ICs and VR-1 speakers in a pretty small listening room.

Contact Igor at K-Works, and try his Ersamat with your Scout. When I did this, the noise floor dropped, instrumental separation improved, and the bass got deeper and tighter. Surface noise dropped as well. It cost about $50 and turned the corner on my Scout setup. I bought a second one to try on my Ariston, but haven't set it up yet. You can reach Igor here.

I haven't heard a CDP that can match my Scout yet.

Thanks for the tip Hirsch, I emailed him and will probably pick one up when he gets back to me.

I doubt I'll be able to best/match my vinyl rig (~3K) but wouldn't mind something with a similar signature. Just the same I am open to most all sugesstions as my preferences may change with time (though I'm certain I don't like dry sound and didn't care for cary digital).

Ive been doing some thinking and I'm not really sure I'm gonna have much time for a new CDP as a 1L. I may hold off for now.

Hirsch,

One question--do you still use your record clamp with that mat? I just upgraded to the stainless steel & derlin clamp and it would be a shame not to use them together.
I'm also hoping that this grounds enough RFI & EMI to quiet things down enough to use my BSSRs from the scouts junction box to phonostage. I was getting a bit of hum/interference before.

the fotm for sources seems to be the sacdmods c555es.

i doubt its unwarranted though.

total cost for the used player and mods should be less than your target price point.

i'm not sure why i'm plugging this thing.
