I'm looking for a standalone speaker with reasonable all-around sound quality and without overpowering bass. It doesn't have to be tiny, just something that can fit on a shelf and be toted easily with one hand. I also don't want anything with a microphone, but those are pretty much my only requirements.

Any suggestions?

Check out the Minirig 2 and the Minirig mini. I was so impressed with them ended up getting their subwoofer and an additional standard rig for 2.1. Got their backpack as well - all I need is a good rain cover for it. Great fun cycling around blasting tunes.

The Mini is great as a jacket speaker
