I think i could start this thread in either this or computer as source forum, but ...

Start looking for a DAC for using with my setup.
How much improvement would i get if i use a DAC combined with my NAD cd player and Mapletree tube amp? If i didn't get a tube DAC i'll be killing my Mapletree tube sound?

Want a DAC with a USB input, once i pretend to use my desktop and laptop as source also.

My mainly concern is if a SS DAC will do the work or doesn't make sense use a SS DAC with a tube amp?

Oh, of course, suggestions will be very appreciated ...

I've been using a Benchmark DAC1 USB for a while now, and it sounds very good. Four inputs, two headphone outputs driven by a good amp, and very capable line outs for your power amp. Works great for me.

Far as I know, the NAD DACs aren't too shabby. I think you will need to pay a little more than 400USD, or at least choose VERY wisely, to get a definite improvement. A lot of the $300-400 DACs may appear to give an initial improvement, but will really just be a sidestep, with possible losses in subtle aspects. I must say, with the source you have, and seeing as you like tube/warmth, stay away from Zhaolu (in stock form at least - it seems zhaolu are bought only to be modded these days).
