Like the title says im looking for a budget amp (read under $200) for these cans. Right now my source is my XPS M1710 with an X-Fi (XM) in the docking station. I'm sending that output to a MisterX Cmoy. The cans are stock. I listen to mostly >192kbps mp3's via Winamp. Music tastes vary anything from country to metal, though I also like bass heavy stuff like techno & trance. I hope I have given enough info, if not please ask and I will gladly provide.

Thanks in advance for lightening my wallet!

I recently bought A headroom bithead after the price drop to $150. It sounds very good with my DT770/80s (more than enough power) and sounds alot better than the 770s straight from my IPOD. It can be used with your DAP with batteries or can be powered straight from your computers USB. Not the worlds best amp but very tough to beat for $150 and versatile too.

Tyler, thanks for the suggestion. I looked at the bithead and it's on my short list but I just want to get a few more suggestions before I throw out the cash. I looked at the Porta Corda III since it's in the range i'm looking at too. Also It doesn't HAVE to be portable amp, desktop amps are fine.

You'll have a hard time finding a desktop amp for below $200. I think the Porta Corda III idea is a good one, and get the USB version since you are listening via a computer.

My experience with the LDII++ wasn't good.

Works for me. Looks like a PCIII is in my future. Sky the one you tested was it the USB version or the standard?

Sorry, never heard the EMU.
