My PC gaming headset broke, so I am not looking for a set of over ear headphones for gaming (I have obtained a modmic) can anybody give me any recommendations. I am looking also for a more flat sound signature I like quite balanced headphones but too be honest a lot of headphones will be better than my now broke headset. I am locked into amazon UK though as it is a voucher I have, but absolute max is £55. So far I have been looking at http://www.amazon.co.uk/AKG-K81-Closed-Back-Headphones/dp/B000BDD56W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422307159&sr=8-1&keywords=AKG+K+81+DJ (AKG K 81 DJ) or http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IWTFNWG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2PRD4QMZNJL1U&coliid=IVCQGTF7H8RR3 (Pioneer SE-M531) or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Audio-Technica-ATH-T400-Dynamic-Studio-Headphones/dp/B004RO3V7O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422307893&sr=8-1&keywords=Audio+Technica+ATH-T400 (Audio-Technica ATH-T400) has anyone had experience with any of these or can offer a better alternative, they must also be closed due to quite loud environment. Thanks for any help :p (Detachable/Replaceable cord is nice because the most common point of failure for headsets for me has been the cord :p)

K81 have a good bit of bass emphasis. Probably not what you are looking for.

It looks like Amazon UK has some Takstar models available. Look into the Pro80 and the HI 2050. The HI 2050 are open headphones, so be sure that you don't mind sound leakage and don't need isolation.

I'd recommend the Takstars as well. But those from amazon.uk are being shipped from China so might as well get something that is cheaper than they offer. Look at aliexpress.com - they are cheaper there.

For closed I'd get Takstar Pro 80. If you want open either Takstar HI2050 or Takstar TS-671.

Hi

I have the Denon AH-D340 over ear headphones and they're very good, I'd say a neutral sound.
I use them for commuting and they're pretty sturdy (much better than the Bose QC3s I had which fell apart!)

But they are £69 , but greatly reduced.

My son has the Sennheiser HD419 which are now reduced to £39, he likes them as they quite light with an open sound and they're very comfortable (used for gaming).

I cant afford the Denons, and I don't think the Sennheisers are quite what I am looking for but thanks anyway :)

You really need to stop spreading this crap all over this forum. I have the Superlux HD681EVO, Takstar HI2050s and Takstar Pro 80s and they are all very good value for the money, they all sound much better than their price tag would lead you to believe. Just because the sound signature of one isn't quite to your liking (and yes, the 2050s are a bit bass shy, however the Pro 80s are not) doesn't mean you should go around spreading complete ignorance based on your limited exposure with headphones. There are many potential buyers of these headphones that lurk sites like this and posts like the above can make them miss out on great headphones because someone can't separate quality from subjective taste. I am not saying you have to like the headphone, but you should think a little bit on the stuff that you post.

And for the record I also prefer the 681EVOs over the Hi2050s, for the same reason. But I can acknowledge that the 2050s are still very good headphones. Not everyone wants or needs the bass quantity of the 681 Evos, the Hi2050s have a more forward midrange and slightly less metallic treble that people may appreciate more. (IMO the Pro 80s sound better than both but that's another discussion.)

As an owner of the Takstar HI 2050, I would say that these do lack sub bass, but have plenty mid and upper bass. The treble might be bothersome especially if one listens to EDM, rock/metal with lots of distortion. However, post-equalizing these cans would still be very enjoyable. Also, the construction of the Takstar allows various modding, which is a big plus for headphone enthusiasts out there.
Also OP, check out this sound demo of the Takstar, given to us by Reddit user ZeosPantera to see whether you like their sound sig or not:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=Panasonic%20RP-HTX7 - pretty Good

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=koss%20dj100&sprefix=koss+d%2Caps - Love these with my M50 pads or put something under the original pads to give a bit more comfort and space which clears the sound up whilst still keeping the lovely warmth of the headphone. M50 pads sound much better but they lose some of the mellow sound to me, which I like.

Good luck, tell us what you try and how they sounded to you .

In that case he could go Takstar Pro 80

I think I may just save up for the koss pro dj200 as they have the same drivers as the dj100 and for £20 more you get the detachable cable (something I am a huge fan of) and a carry case which is extremely useful for me as I am a frequent traveller!

Big fan of the DJ100/200 sound. Much more refined sounding than takstars/superlux, both of which tend to have fatiguing highs. They are very clear and musical sounding. They have a pretty good soundstage as well.

Only flaw is the ear pads which are very uncomfortable if you have bigger than average ears but if you get some M50 earpads or any other earpads really, this becomes an awesome headphone.

Perfect then, one of the things that is important is not fatiguing and comfortable as many of my listening sessions can stretch to almost twelve hours, could you possibly link me the earpads on Amazon? Oh and thanks everyone for what seems to be sound advice :)
