I know it's a very personal matter, but I'd like to get personal impressions about the use of the HD580 and the DT880 for listening to classical. How would you describe each of these cans in a few adjectives? I use computer-as-source, a Spitfire DAC and the Headfive.

HD580: warm, smooth, coherent, boring, sore, blobbish*

DT880: bright, harsh, airy, lively, comfortable, effortless

*as in blobs of sound (the sound is generally percieved as coming from either one of the "earpads cave" or from the middle)... it's biggest problem of the Senns IMO but it's somehwat remedied by Meier's crossfeed

Why aren't considering the K501?

EDIT: I've got the flat 880s released around 2003.
