The SR80s and SR225s are so really nice phones. Your description reminded me of all the fun and excitement and ... I had when I first tried Grados - if Grado made an non-leaking phone (probably impossible given the uniqueness of their sound) I would go back.

Keep enjoying those phones.

no amp. im using an X-Fi. i wouldnt dare plug these into my Zune, the cord is embarrassing when i go outside, ive been home all day listening to Michael Jackson and laughing at how my friend thinks "50 dollars" is all you should spend for listening to MP3's.

its really odd though because i DO hear the occasional sound artifact when listening to internet radio and 128kbps sampled songs.

no i understand that grados are never really going to offer me head rattling bass, i was looking for a warm refreshing headphone to spend hours at night just listening to relaxing music/ the occasional ACDC.

i would have made a proper introduction but seeing as how many members/new posts are on this forum daily, id think there wouldnt really be a personal up-close feeling with all the members.

eh im not upgrading to anything but the SR225's if anything. i already have the SR80 pads for extra comfort (i hate the sweaty feeling of comfy pads) and i dont really have a refined ear to notice gradual difference.

plus everyone KNOWS the wire grill is to die for.

i really do wish they made grados with shorter cabling though.

Sounds like your looking more for something in the Sennheiser family, when I'm not listening to rock I switch over to my Sennheiser HD485. There really warm can's, with strong bass that is never bloated, the mids are just a bit recessed and the treble a little veiled. The mids and highs open a little bit if you burn them in. The problem you will have with them is the cord it's probably about twice as long as the Grado.

Funny I've seen a few people say that, well I wish the cord was a bit longer, I know they make an extension but I really don't want to introduce yet another connection into the system.

Im back again.

As you go up in Grado line, bass gets better. And I mean better, as in things like extension and details and such, not in quantity exactly. Though there are few oddball Grado headphones which are said to have strong and noticeably bass: HF1, PS1 (Real bass monster according to some) and GS1000.

Get the flat pads - this improves bass and impact. Probably X2. Got them myself and can't recommend them enough.
Senns have more bass, but are muffled/dull sounding compared to Grado's, if you're into Queen I wouldn't really recommend them.
