Just kidding about the comparison...

Well, depends on what I hear when I get them

My money order for the ER4P is finally going through bidpay!

Must say I am looking forward to hearing them!

I wonder if I need to upgrade my associated equipment before doing the comparison? I'd most probably get a new CDP (probably the Sony NS700V or CE775--which is better?) but I may be stuck with my current amp the Porta Corda.

Joe...

ER4P vs EX70... well, the easiest comparison would be to say that the ER4P is the finest silk shirt ever produced vs a woolen sweater.. the silk feels effortless against your skin vs the wool which feels rough, and irritating

You'll be impressed

to me, EX70s ~ they get a three, purely because they do isolate to a certain extent, and the sound isn't totally bad...

and the ETYs - they to my ears get 9.5/10 - because I know that somewhere out there in that big wide world is a pair of Sony MDR-R10s with my name on

no I was refering to what I thought they were in sound quality out of 10

they are better than those other ear buds that just sit in your ear. I just can understand how 1 pair of them has ever been sold

I have some special reasons for liking the EX70s I have

Joe Joe Joe... you may like your EX70s now, heck - I was where you are now, not so long ago... but, when the ER4Ps arrive, prepare to be blown away!!

(although if you listen to the ETYs straight after the Sonys, you'll think they're bass light - due to Sonys crapola scheme of adding too much mid-bass to stuff)

I have sonys as well. I can tell you I dont know where they are. My etys are my companion. I lost a pair I get another pair. If I lost my current pair, I would immed get another pair . Im a ety fan , hey the sonys are ok , the problem is the etys are just f.....g good

I am standing on slightly different ground from you and Duncan... I used digital EQ on my CDs to give the EX70 roughly the same frequency response as the etys, and I already think the non-EQed EX70 are crap...

AlphaHX compared the etys with the EX70 with EQ and said they were still crap...

But then on icq he says the EX70 with EQ comes close to the ER6.

But then he got the ER4P and I am getting the ER4P too

Well I'm getting them anyway so everything's cool

I really ought to be hoping that the etys blow away even MY EX70s

I'm just afraid I'd blow my eardrums out with them coz with the EX70 I keep on tangling my bag and stuff on the wires and popping the phones right out of my ears

And I dunno if I can wear them comfortably. I try to clean my ears with a wooden tip once in while and it hurts like hell
eek.gif

Do the etys come with some sort of ear cleaning device too?

Joe,

The ER4s don't come with any ear 'cleaning' tool (apart from the rubber flanges... I clean my ears every day and the first time I used them, was horrified
eek.gif
) these can be washed, so all is cool there

I think you'll still be amazed by the ETYs too, yes... you may be EQing, but that only gives a very rough approximation of the whole package... the isolation, how close the driver gets to your eardrum etc etc... I was one of the biggest sceptics out about ETY sound, but now after just two days... the rubber flanges ~ I don't notice them at all... and the sound, I can't use ANY of my other ear/head phones at the moment... they all seem to sound like POS!!

Nope

I think I really ought to check this out with a doc to clear this up before they arrive... otherwise you might be seeing another pair of ER4P for sale
eek.gif

Duncan you only got your etys for two days?
