Welcome to Head-Fi. We're not sorry for your wallet.

What kind of headphones are they? Most headphone wires are insulated with a wax-type material for corrosion purposes. You can try to dip them in alcohol and ignite it to melt away the insulation or hold a flame to it. After you connect the wires back together use a tiny bit of electrical or teflon tape to isolate the 3 wires from each other.

Use caution when melting away the insulation because most headphone wires are thin and fragile. Goodluck.

if you do burn the varnish off try hitting the wire with some 400 grit wet/dry sand paper to remove any residue . A good electrical connection is critical

JEEEEZ !

I must be an idiot for not pointing that out Jon

Since I use my MS-1s on the go , and the cord is 6' (not to mention heavy ) I use the multi-colored velcro straps from radio shack to manage the cable.

Actually I attach the cord loop to my cdp/amp/cd bag shoulder strap so if the cans get yanked from my head (I think we have all been there) they can't actually hit the ground . REAL important in the winter !
