Hey guys. I'm taking off to Japan for a year in a week.

I've decided to take my w100's with me and use them as my sound system while I'm there. I'm just wondering what you guys would recommend I take to drive them.

Would I be able to just run them straight off a portable player? Would anyone recommend the ipod? Do I really need an amp for these phones?

I know that they're low impedance phones, but I'm just worried about the sound quality of the new players which have such incredible battery life and which are so cheap. Does the ipod have a good amplifier?

good enough. my meta42 definitely helps but it's not horrible without an external amp. a touch bright and a touch thin though.
