Planning to get a new CM IEM.
Was looking at Livewires, SuperFreQ, and FreQShow. Dont know which one to pick

Currently using ER4S. Looking at something similar to ER4S sound signature.
Also own Grado 325i, again love grado's sound.

Very confused now. Any comment ?? Much appreciated

I've read some comments that
Livewires = Grado sounds signature
FreQShow = Senn sounds signature

And personally, never like Senn's signature.

Comments ?

Just a thought. If after getting the custom IEM, you're still going to keep all your other headphones, why not get something with a different sound from what you have?

100% in agreement there. It's about rediscovering music from different perspectives. Not one is better than another - they are all different sound signatures which all have their merits at this level.

I'm not saying a $10 bud sound sig is good different, but they are ALL top notch choices in the list.

If you read carefully, you will discover that you actually answered your own question right there.

Love the Livewires. Great neutral sound. Haven't looked back. Still love them since day one.

Sure

But the waiting list for Livewires is > 1 month

Only if you can wait.

Are you looking at ER4S or 4P ?

yeah i can wait if need be.

not sure about ER4S or P - I'm not sure what the advantage of the S is supposed to be! how is it different from the P with a resistor in the line?

seems like the P is more flexible, but i'd mostly be using it with an amp anyway..

Well, go for ER4S if you will be using it with an amp.

In terms of sound, i cant comment since i havent heard 4P. My understanding is 4P has better bass response. But 4S has better mids and highs, and 4S really shines with an amp. Thats why most people will get a P-S cable with 4P.
So you can either go 4S or 4P with a P-S cable.

Question is, does 4P with P-S cable sound like 4S ? There are people claimed they sound the same and the others still think 4S sound better.
More confused now ?

I was in that position before and i picked 4S for the same reason - i will be using it with an amp.

hmm, yes its really not clear, maybe i should ask etymotics?

if the 4P can just be converted that easily to 4S then it would be better to get 4P, but if thats the case why even make the 4S? I imagine the 4S would be better..

If you look at Ety's website
Etymotic Research, Inc. - Earphone Comparision

In terms of accuracy, 4S scores 92% vs 4P 86%, which is even lower than ER6 !
But again, score means nothing until you try it, your ears are always the final judge.
