Hi, friends here,

Deciding to grab one from these two for my HD600.
Both are around same price range and from same designer.

I will use more for
1. classical chamber music, especially baroque (40%)
I want the chamber music to be crystal clear, balanced and little little sweet.

2. Symphonies (30%)
I want the symphonies to be powerful, balanced and clear soundstage, good dynamic range.

3. others including Jazz Vocal, Pop/rock..

I know about that LD MT (LD Micro Tube is not LD Micro or Micro+) is hybrid, LD MK III tube.
Hope I'm not comparing apple with orange.
It seems (at least I heard) hybrid tends to work with HD600 better on large dynamic range symphony works.

Take apart the style difference.
What I'm curious is which one deliver a better sound quality with my HD600 for chamber music and symphonies.

If you happen to have both pls post your ideas here.
you can start a new thread as well. Just pls update me with the thread URL

Thanks a lot!~

?? Are you mistaking the LD Micro Tube with LD Micro+?
These two are in completely different classes.

LDMT and LDMK III are at least in same money class. But one hybrid one tube.

I'd say definitely the MK3 as it's got WAY more power than the previous LD2+/++ and the LD MT. Also, its incredible soundstage is perfect for classical lovers.

Thanks. But from the specs, seems LDMT has more power and less distortion than LD MK III. However, specs isn't that important.

LD MK III specs
4. Frequency response: 12HZ---100KHZ (300 ohm, –1db)
5. THD+N: 0.15% (300 ohm 80mW)
6. Output power:
a) 350 mw (600/300 ohm)
b) 300 mw ( 120 ohm)
c) 100 mw ( 32 ohm)

LD MT specs
THD+N: 0.1% (100 mW @300 ohm)
Power Output:
360 mW @ 300 ohm
800 mW @ 120 oh
2000 mW @ 32 ohm

Thanks. Looking forward to your review. I think only an AB comparision on HD600 or other high impedance phone can tell which I should get

I have a set of 701s so hopefully the full tube will bring out a little more in them. I also have a Behringer 24/96 eq ran via optical into the EMU.

I'd like to know how the bass is on the MK III. I found it not that good on the MT (boomy, poor definition).

Interesting. My modded Prodigy HIFI soundcard has a bass response which is clearly punchier and better defined than my MT (which is the upgraded version).
The Prodigy doesn't have bigger capacitors than there are in the MT (although there are more in quantity). On the box they do brag about "high quality capacitors from Sanyo (SP series) and from Nicholson (RU/ES series)". Maybe size isn't that important....
It's actually the OPA2107 opamp which produces this nice bass. The OPA2227 was similar but a bit muddled.

PS. The MT is not portable. Yes, it looks portable but there is a beefy external transformer (bigger than the MT itself).

Soundcards are a different story because they utilize high efficiency PSU of your computer. Portable amps have small batteries (read: with limited current efficiency) and small capacitors. I agree that cap's quality also matters but capacitance is the prime factor. OPA2227 - said many times, I simply cannot stand its sound signature. OPA2107 is better, however if you need good bass try AD8066 (SOIC warning and 24V+- is max. allowed).
