Hi,
I've been searching the forums for some info comparing the 2 but have had no luck. Right now I have my Macbook Pro connected to my Little Dot MKIII to my HD650. I wanted to add a DAC into my setup hoping to improve my SQ, the MBP soundcard is so-so.

I've narrowed down my search to the D10 and the DAC_1. The DAC_1 gives me the advantage of being able to upgrade to a balanced setup in the future, but the iBasso D10 doubles as a portable amp.

Which one would you recommend if I wanted to go down the DAC only route? I'm open to some other suggestions, but I'm trying to keep it under $300.

Thanks

I have the LD MK III Amp and soon started considering a DAC. First thought was the Fubar USB DAC, then a longing for the LD DAC_1 like yourself. Well last night I pulled the trigger and purchased the Cambridge DacMagic - has all and more of what I was looking for in a DAC and with some very excellent reviews.

Thanks for the input. I was also reading up on the DacMagic, I have it under consideration. I was wondering if anyone had some hands on with of these amps to see which one is better and if I end up choosing the DacMagic, if the price difference compared to the others is worth it.

The d10 is absolutely amazing. And if you're not satified with the sound, it comes with an plug'n'play opamp kit so you can easily modify it to your liking.

After 3 days with the DacMagic ---YES, it is most certainly worth the price difference - phenomenal DAC and LOADED with all the features you'd ever want. What an impact it had on my setup - noticed immediately. You also get the choice of 3 different filter settings to further customize your sound signature based on tastes and genres.

just want to make sure you know that the mbp supports optical out in the headphone jack, so usb shouldnt really be a factor in this process (usually implemented worse)

you probably already knew but i just wanted to make sure!
