Little Dot 2 Tube amp for Grado 325i?Good choice Y/N?

No I definately wouldn't recommend the LD2 for grados. It is designed to drive higher impedence cans and probably won't give the grados enough current to drive them to their potential. I would try a gilmore light instead.

Isn't the G.Lite supposed to be slightly on the bright side? And the 325i is already a bright phone

I really couldn't tell ya as I have not heard one. I'm just saying that it would probably be a better match than the LD2.

the maker of the little dot says that LD 2 can drive 30-600 ohm phones, while the older LD1 drives only 64-600 ohm phones.

i'm also interested in buying the LD2 for my MS-1 and coming RS-2.

anybody here with the little dot 2 and grados?

You are correct that the LDII is billed as driving low or high impedance cans (unlike LD-I).

I should have mine within the week. I'll need a little listening time, then I'll post initial impressions with both Grados (SR80) & Senns (HD580).

Trust me on this one.The 325i sounds great with the Gilmore lite.I almost got rid of my 325i's because they sounded so bad with my ASL tube amp. Then I bought the Gilmore lite.A perfect matchup.

I hated the LD2 with my MS-Pros, sounded bad on alot of music, especially heavy distorted guitar music.

The HeadAmp Lite is not bright. Its punchy and slightly warm. Should pair up very well to a Grado. Without the DPS is does however miss some low end extention but thats only an issue with the Senn 650/Beyer 880 that actually dip down there

Yeah I know, but how much current can it give the grados. Grados really need a lot of current for them to driven to their best (note how I said to their best

Dr Yang (the LD maker) uses HD6XX as his test phone, and favours slightly LP sounding CDPs...so I am inclined to believe that he would create an amp more to the "darker" smoother and more laidback presentation.

Also most people enquiring about his amps tend to be AKG, Senn or Ety users; I haven't come across many Grado/Alessandro users in my research.

At the same time, maybe you should try an LD first? I've ordered the LD3 with the automatic gain set (circuit tests headphone impedence upon powering on and sets gain accordingly) but I won't be receiving it sooner than October due to production delay (casing, Dr Yang's actual job demands, etc...)
