Okay, soo sometimes i hear little crackles in some songs on youtube in the right ear.

I want to test if the drivers of my new HD 558 are correct.

What did i test?
My Sennheiser HD 558 & Philips Earbuds both have the same crackle on the same spot in some songs. I also did test the same thing on my mobile and the result is the same.

Soo my question here is:
What is going on here and what makes the crackle happen? Do these songs just have those crackles in them?

Example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtdnWYqbMwc 4:30 - 5:00 Little crackles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60ItHLz5WEA 2:10 - 2:15 Crackle around 2:13

Thanks!

it's probably just youtube, compression, or badly mastered, and not your setup. I have 1 song that has coil whine on spotify, youtube, and flac. Try listening to those song on other services to see if it is there.

I hear the same thing you hear in those songs. You should expect these kinds of problems with highly processed sources like this. They both have TONS of high frequency content, plus lots of digital processing on top of it. It's hard to say exactly what caused the clicks in these videos, but I hear them too, so your headphones are fine.

Youtube is NOT a high quality source. It blows my mind that so many people use it as a primary source of music.

Brian.
