I've been wanting a nice tube amp for my SR80's (and hopefully HD595 or HD600 or HD650, $ pending)

Is the MKII even out yet?

Why LD while with just a little bit more and you can find a used Mapletree EAR+ Purist HD or Singlepower PPX ?

Stick around with the well known amps and you might be able to recover your investment if you decide to upgrade.

it's in pending status, my guess is maybe LD will ship them next week or maybe first week of jan

for the same price, i suggest that TS wait for the MKII, better version than LD2++

For now I'd go with the LDII++ as it has proven itself to be a reliable, great-value-for-money amp. Tube rolling options has been well exlored and well documented on the LDII++ in the massive LDII++ tube rolling thread so tuning its sound to your liking is less of a hassel. The MkII is something of an unknown and I'm just weary of a repeat of the LDII+ fiasco (you all remember that, right?).

Joshatdot, the MK series of headphone amps from Little-Tube, represent a huge increase in quality, reliability and superior sound quality. Most people who have purchased one of the new MK series amps understand clearly that "what was, isn't any more" and they are more than pleased and content with their purchase. I'd wait for the MKII (week or two) to be released. Either way, keep us posted on your progress!

There is really no going wrong with either of these two.

The LD's hold their value better than Singlepower amps, just look at all the used LDII+ for sell on ebay, they tend to fetch ~75% of their original price, you can't really say the same about Singlepower with the used MPX at $650.

Can we expect the price of the LD MKII to stay about the same (maybe a bit more...) than the current LD II++?

The price for the Mk2 has already been released, check this thread .

Please let me know where I can get a PPX for a little bit more than $159, I will pay CASH and spring for shipping. (and pay a finders fee).

I know nothing about tube amps and tube rolling. Should I get the optional tubes for the MKII?

- Driver Tubes: EF92
- Power Tubes: 6N6-T

- Additional Tube Set (2x EF92, 2x 6N6-T): $25

NM, I just realized those are extra tubes if the OEM's burn out.

The tubes are readily available on ebay from other venders should yours burn out. It's probably a better idea to save on the extra tubes and put the money towards rolling upgraded tubes and tuning the sound of the amp to your liking.
