Listening to lossless audio with Dollar Store earbuds

Stupid question really - can you listen to 16/44.1 flac using an iPhone and Dollar Store earbuds?

I said this as a comment on a YouTube channel and got a reply that said “that’s not lossless when it comes to digital”.

Then I replied that you would, of course, need the $9 Apple dongle dac, but got no further reply.

So, can you listen to lossless using an iPhone, dongle dac and $1 earphones?

Why not, if it makes you happy.

I have a friend who uses TOTL headphones to listen to youtube music, and he is happy with it. Though for us in this endless rabbithole, there's always an area in the chain that we would want to upgrade, and I do feel upgrading the transducer (ie earbud/headphone/IEM), brings the most mileage in the music quality (in general).
