Listen to a lot of NIN, Bjork, etc... Which cans should I go with?

I was considering IEM's before but Im thinking now I should go with some regular over the ear headphones. I listen to a lot of NIN with heavy thick bass notes, classical piano, and LOTS of very subtle layering. Its not all noise...

I want some cans that I can wear in public without being heard.

And I prefer the old school look, with mesh and steel, rather than the modern formed plastic... I love how Grado's look for example.

Last but not least Id like to spend no more than $300...

Do you guys have any recomendations? Any NIN listeners with first hand experience?

I will add that I recently purchased q-JAYS and they didnt perform well at all with distortion on some songs such as 1 Ghosts I, head down, corona radiata for example... I think they are much better designed for mids and highs.

Thanks guys.

contradictory
if you want a closed design, there isn't gonna be any mesh and or steel

unless you want a closed woody, plastic is the only way to go
sorry

I think the Senn HD25s are a great suggestion and will probably meet with your external style (small old style but still plastic).

If it is sound you want for that price I would try the 750's. HFI780s get a good repo and are a little cheaper but I have not heard them yet.

Get the best you can afford but you will soon realise that one does not do it all!

Welcome to the slippery slope that is head-fi, and watch your wallet!
