Hello :)

I recently got the Sennheiser hd 660s and I am very happy with them.
The only problem is that I can't use them all the time because they leak too much sound and bother the people next to my bedroom.

So now I'm looking for a second pair that is closed or at least leaks less sound.
It doesn't have to be a super isolating headphone, so semi open might work as well.
Also I will get a schiit stack soon so power requirements don't matter.

The problem is that almost all the pairs I can find have boosted bass of 5db or more but I am looking for something linear (ideally close to the hd 660s) and hopefully with detailed sound.

My budget is maximum 600€

Thank you! :)

Try looking into these
You might also consider Aeon Flow Closed

err.. HD250 Linear !!? !!? (used) the clue is in the name

Or wait for it's (hopefully) spiritual successor; the new Sennheiser HD300

Also beyerdynamic DT150 or DT250 (2 pairs of each easily for your inflated budget). However they are all Professional headphones that do tend to isolate but don't sound closed

I don't know about the Headphones you mentioned so far but I kept looking and I found 3 pairs so far that might be good for me: (all measurements are from innerfidelity)

Meze 99:

Audio Technica ATH MSR7:

Fostex th-610:

And here to compare to my hd 660s:

What do you think about these? And in case someone owns them, could you maybe compare them?

I should say that I don't mind a bit more bass (especially sub bass) compared to the 660s,
I just don't want it to be overwhelming or make the headphones lose detail in the other frequencies.

Thanks again ! :)

The Audio Technica ATH-M70X and A1000Z are said to be linear, might be worth looking into... though with my experience with pricier Audio Technica headphones, I wouldn't be surprised if the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs is better... and the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs fits the bill, it's a very linear (by dynamic headphone standards) closed back headphone, exceptional quality for the price. My favorite Sennheiser headphone by far as far as price/performance (value) goes.

Funny thing is though, for just a tad more money you could afford a ZMF Blackwood which I bet you'd like more than the HD 660S (at least with any Schiit stack), and it's closed back. Please don't take any offense at this suggestion, I'm just that confident in it.

99s have an elevated low end, the Neo even more so.

is the mezes classic low end elevated a lot ? according to the graphs it should be just a bit

the a1000z might be a good idea, i will look into it

Another option i would have is to put different pads (hm5) on my ath m50s to reduce the low end.
What do you guys think about that ?
I just don't know how effective that would be.

I'm also really interested in the fostex t60rp but there are barely any reviews yet so I don't know how linear they are.
The t50rp were quite linear so I'm assuming the t60rp should be similar ?

If you're really after linearity, then new pads on the ATH-M50 isn't gonna do it. The M50 will always have a V-shaped frequency response.

This is the best place to keep track of the Fostex T60RP: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/fostex-t60rp.857690/

Seems like a more refined T50RP MK3 based on user impressions so far, so probably about equally linear. The most common, concrete attribute I see mentioned in that T60RP thread is lack of bass extension, but that's only compared to other planars (it won't be lacking compared to a dynamic headphone in that price range). I wonder how the treble performance is though, since it's pretty sloppy (but not fatiguing) on the T50RP MK3 compared to the elites of that price range (though the bass and mids are the best for the price I think).

For the most part, yes. The 99 classics have a rather generous boost. If you're going off the graph on the box, it's definitely not accurate.
