Hey everyone, I recently bought a FiiO E09K amplifier. My chain goes like this Creative SB X-Fi Titanium HD -> FiiO E09K -> Headphones/speakers. I have a pair of Audioengine A2 active speakers that are connected to the amp currently through the line-out jack, however there is also a pre-out jack. For the best audio quality should I be going through the line-out or pre-out? As I understand it the line-out sends a fixed voltage to the speakers, while the pre-out allows adjustable voltage via the knob.

All depends where you prefer to control the volume. In principle the fixed level should be better - strong signal will be less susceptible to picking up any noises and distortions caused by the possible interferences. But unless you live under a power line or run power cables to your fridge next to your audio, I don't think you'll notice any difference.
