Line-Out vs. Coax Out vs. Optical Out?

As I'm sure you can tell from the thread's title, I am a newbie.  I am somewhat familiar with the function of the line-out because I have used it to send a signal to portable computer speakers.  I have no idea of the function of a coaxial out or optical out.  Can some one explain their function?
 
I've been jonesin' for a new DAP for a few months and know I would get use from a line-out, but don't know if I can use the coax or optical outs.
 
Any help would be appreciated.

Coax and optical are digital outs. Which of the 3 is better will be fully dependent on the devices in question, their execution of said function and what they get connected to.

In my opinion :

As digital

coax out is better compare to optical out

As analog

Line out sound good hang from your DAP and your amp you want to connect with the line out

For example : line out from HDP R10 is better than DX 50

I also prefer coax to tos when both are done well.
