Hi!

I drive a Beyerdynamic DT990 (250 Ohms) through a portable head amp from my iPod Classic with LOD cable. A couple of days ago, the left channel line output dropped dramatically.
- tried several LOD cables, all the same problem, rules out faulty cable
- tried cleaning dock contacts, did not help
- tried other sources into amp, everything fine, rules out faulty amp
- reinstalled iPod software, did not help

Headphone output on top of iPod is fine however.

My question is: is there any way to alter channel volumes/outputs/balance in an iPod? With a little, obscure, unknown app???

Help is appriciated!

Welcome to the forum BlueAudio. Can you run apps. on an iPod Classic? It seems like a hardware fault on your Classic. Perhaps rockbox might enable you to adjust the balance but this would not be a good solution.

Rockbox isn't working with an iPod Classic, so that option is ruled out. Hardware fault? Hmm, I'd say 'contact' or 'no contact' as far as hardware goes, minus 20dB makes me think M A Y B E a software solution is possible.
