How has nobody commented on these beauties already?
My local head-fi store (addicted to audio) sells focal, and my partners’ dad, has been a speaker repair person and influencer to her experience of hifi growing up (we have some mini Diamond 9 wharfdales that were a gift from him), means she is familiar with the internals of speakers; we BOTH stopped and looked in awe of a cutaway Focal speaker on the showroom floor.
Clearly not all speakers are created equally.
Brands that customise not only the drivers and crossovers and do the math regarding frequency dispersion (internal AND external) really do put out parts that outshine other, typically ‘same’ looking boxes.
The Focal cutaway speaker on the showroom floor had me walking rings around it.. (like a kid around a Christmas tree)
The regular Focal towers on the show room floor hardly revealed any of the amazing engineering hidden underneath a ‘somewhat fashion’/‘somewhat plain’ exterior; and that is why these Chameleons’ are ‘something (super) special’.
Having heard some ‘bookshelf‘ speakers in the main showroom space, and having asked the manager ‘where is the subwoofer’, I literally walked out of the room before I accustomed to ‘that level of sound’…
These things not only deliver the goods, but they are, rather unusually, somewhat a piece of art.
Most of my best speakers are fourty years old (+), and even they are sometimes worthy of interest and questions from guests..
But these are next level in every way imaginable!
Best thing about MoonAudio having them would be a ‘one stop shop’ to get the matching parts that would make these shine (sing?!)..
And SHINE they will..
