I'm looking for a lightweight app to play back audio for non-critical listening.

I'd like it to:

- Look good and be relatively unobtrusive even on a 1024 x 768 screen while in operation

- Be fully Vista compatible (Vista Business, mainly) while running as a standard user

- Be lightweight (not consume globs of power/memory as main use will be on Core Solo ULV's)

- Don't need / want visualisations. Just a clean, cool interface.

- Support FLAC, MP3, AAC, Ogg, Apple Lossless if possible.

- Very importantly, auto-scan a folder / subfolders on startup and present that as the listening library. This is because I sync my laptops to my main library like a DAP so the contents will change often.

- Absolutely no involved nerding for the above results - I don't want to have to install a whole wodge of plugins and spend half a day configuring it to get what I want.

Don't mind paying for it as long as there's a trial version I can take for a spin.

Thanx

That's kind of cool. Thanks for the link, I'll give it a try.

Anyone else with suggestions? I don't really need powerful library management features... or indeed, any library management features as I will most likely not be fiddling with the contents of the library while with the laptop.

What I'd be looking for in terms of overall presentation is the nearest equivalent of a (self-databasing) DAP sitting inside a laptop.
