Light Harmonic Geek Wave

New investor = confirmation that there isn't sufficient campaign money left to complete the Wave.

... and an investor is going to expect a return on their investment. Income from the Wave etc is long gone so unless the investor is in it for the karma and not the money, Wave etc are imho doomed. Unless of course, the Wave is so awesome it could take the dap market by storm and sell a ton of units to new customers... you know, because people really trust the LH Labs brand and there are no good alternate daps out there these days :-/.

Stella & M5s 01.jpg

While mired in controversy, the Light Harmonic Stella is truly outstanding.
It possesses effortless, full-bodied neutrality, with top-tier staging. Stella is highly resolving, yet soothing all throughout the higher frequencies. With its colorless, accurate tone, and I can see Stella becoming a favorite for many audiophiles.

Hmm... I like your reviews but i don't understand that you still - given the LHL history - (yeah...now somebody will chime in again and say that LHL and LH are two pair of shoes) even listen to any of Larry Ho's product.

I guess lots of people are following you hence a great move would have been if you had said that LH/LHL offered you the iem for review but that you have declined "this offer" because you don't want to support such a company due to the known reasons.

Principles and decency...
My 2cts.

I thought about it. But as I gathered more information, I felt anything but certainty over who was right and who was wrong.

Therefore, I won't claim to know, and will review the product based solely on it's merits.

My integrity would be truly compromised if I let myself get scared off by a hot-button topic.

In my opinion, the saddest part of the whole LH/LHL experience is that Larry HAS been able to produce some very nice high end products, but his reputation is so badly and irreversibly tainted by the whole Stella controversy and the complete clown show disasters that are HIS IGG campaigns that very few here seem to trust him, his products or his business ethics. His reputation in the US as a business man must be less than zero. Maybe, there is still some hope for him in China... At some point, Larry has to settle ALL his debts with ALL his IGG supporters; it would be very unjust for him to capitalize on his $1300 Stellas and leave the rest of us wanting... especially since we put our trust in him and used our money to his further his career goals... So, what do you say Larry... Why don't you stand up like a decent human being, quit feeding Jarek and the rest of us BS nonsense, and finally address your debts and let us know what you are going to do to repay them?

I wen't through this with the IMR R1 as well.

Only liars claim to know the whole truth of what went on behind the scenes of a failed business venture. There's too much he said she said to be sure. If you were not there, you do not know.

My perspective is, if you put out a good product, you should sell that good product. That is literally the only way for a company to move forward. Whether or not the people of Light Harmonic were to blame for past mistakes, this is the one true path to recovery. No other strategy can work.

I seriously think your perspective would change if you would have perked double digit thousands of dollars and still have nothing to show for it after 4 years.

Do I know what went on inside LHL? No, not specifically, but it's very evident that the business was mismanaged.

From an engineering perspective, what LHL did produce was very good, albeit a little buggy at first but that was rectified, eventually.

I hope LHL can still deliver as promised but I'm not holding my breath. Ethically, the behavior can't be excused.

I imagine you are right.

I note that these campaigns predate your headfi account. I hope you looked at the (indisputable) facts before positioning yourself as a voice of "balance" in a situation that has long since moved on from apologising for or defending the actions of Larry, Gavin and LH Labs.

Personally I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Not only for the way they've treated thousands of investors in previous IGG campaigns, but also the BS they've put Ken from ALO though (and I'm yet to be convinced that the Stella isn't based on Ken's designs).

Ethics first. No review is worth compromising standards over. Pinky - I'd return it without reviewing. Yes, someone will step up to review it. But I'd rather not be that someone. They don't deserve any recognition until they right their wrongs. For me the IMR R1 was in the same boat.

I am not defending or condemning. I can be unbiased, precisely because I was not swept up in these events.

Again, I see it as pretty straight forward. If there's a product in stock for customers to buy, and it is good, people should know.

After further thought and consideration, I've decided to send Stella back... after I review it. My original agreement was that I keep Stella after the review.

I knew taking on this item would be controversial, but I didn't quite grasp the level of anger still broiling on the forums. Since I gave my word, the review will continue, but I will send it back when I am done.
