Just sitting back listening to Creedence Gold and Gun,s N Roses Appetite for Destruction cd,s that i borrowed from the library, and wondering if anybody else does this. I,ve got 3 excellent libraries near me and about every couple of months i check them out. Usually always find something different, and they have some fairly new stuff too. Always tons of classical and jazz. and a decent selection of pop, rock, and country. Great for trying out new types of music also. Some discs are pretty hacked up but some are very nice. Had "The Band The Last Waltz" last week and that looked brand new. If you havent been in a while you should check it out.

The whole point of the local library is to RESEARCH. Unfortunately too many people overlook this resource for researching new music they might like or want to purchase.

The library is an excellent way to find new music without having to gamble $18 bucks upfront just for a listen. Especially when your trying to get into new genres and don't know who is good.

Why pirate MP3s when you can get more CDs than you could ever want to listen to from your local library? and it's legal!

After 3-9 weeks with a CD (after renewals), how much time would you really spend listening to it after that anyway? If you still want to listen to it after that long, you know for sure that it's worth the $18 bucks, and the CD deserves to be bought.

I like to search with one window open in amazon.com, and the other on my library's catalog. I use amazon to look up stuff I like, then check out the "people who bought this also bought...." and then cross-reference this with my libraries online card catalog, and request interesting looking CDs from the system for pickup at my local branch.

A Skip-Doctor usually fixes up those beat-up library discs so they are usable.
