Surprised there is not a LG V20 thread. Anybody own this phone and tried the ESS Sabre 9218 DAC on board. Talk about smooth and rich sound. I am dumping my HTC M8 to use the V20 as my DAP. I haven't heard the HTC 10 but the M8 does get louder with higher I impedance headphones. Lower impedance is wash between volume but the sound output in my opinion is probably hands down the best in a mainstream smartphone. I've tested with Samsung ear buds, iphone earbuds and both my beyerdynamic COP's and DT770 250 ohm. Anybody else tried this beast of a smartphone? I'd love to try and put it head to head with a HTC 10 but that probably won't happen unless I get lucky and a friend gets one. The V20 also wins in the longevity department because of swappable battery so this is a capable for years to come. And like I said the volume doesn't get jam out loud but loud enough for casual listening easily. Also, root was achieved last night so that might change. And then there is always option of finding a neutral amp and getting some more gusto out of the volume. As is though, it suffices, just not as loud with higher impedance. Oh and supposed the phone detects higher impedance and turns on higher impedance mode. It helps some but not a lot. Some people are able to trick it by putting in headphone jack extension/adapters and it triggers higher impedance mode so you get more volume on lower impedance headphones. Anybody else own this and want to chime in?
