Z7 is the best for V10, and if you want to improve it further, there are mods for Z7 available

What mods?

Ok ok. I own the bose qc25 and the Sennheiser hd 650s. I've been noticing a lot of hype and great feed back on the sony z7, how do the z7 compares to the HD650? Is it worth the high price? I too own the v10.

No I just used an 3.5mm aux jack to connect the v10 to the e17k, and then plugged the headphones into the fiio.  This way I only used the amp portion of the e17k.

Were you using a 1/4in to 1/8in adapter direct to the V10?

I meant when you tried the DT990 and the V10 before adding the e17k.

I believe that certain adapter or cables might cause the V10 to default to normal instead of high even though the headphones have over 50 ohms impedance. Happened to me with my HD598.

I'm worried there may be no way to get the high impedance power while using an android remote cable at the same time.

EDIT: Also, does anyone know a way to keep the music player displaying in the 2nd screen when the main screen is off? Doesn't seem to be any way to do it in the options.

I have. No real change. Tried it with the X1 and X2. Then tried a pair of Koss Porta Pros...WOW! They're 60 ohms and really gave me a taste of the power the V10 has available.

+1

Just tried mine. The Porta Pro and V10 are another GREAT combo! Might be time to finally get my Porta Pros modded.

We should start of list of best V10 pairings. So far these and the Z7 might be unanimous.

These headphones have at least 2 recommendations within the thread:

Confirmed good pairings with the LG V10:

Sony MDR-Z7
AKG Q701
AKG K7XX
Koss Porta Pro (non-KTC version)
Sennheiser HD 598 (includes new SE version)

Note: high impedance mode is NOT compatible with cable buttons. ANY headphone directly connected to the V10 with an in-line mic/remote cable will cause it to default to normal power.

If your headphones are less than 50 ohms here is a hardware method for getting more power without increased impedance that may work:

really tempted to purchase this after seeing Expanseys link, but concerned about this power issue. Could anyone confirm compatability with Shure se846's as they only run on 9 ohm. Thanks in advance.

They work great with the SE846's. If you have any more specific info you want I would be more then happy to answer. V10 with SE846 is my go to portable setup now.

Much audable hiss?

None that I can tell. In listening to them now and I can't hear any at all. Edit: To clarify this is at my normal listening level (typically around 30-50 on the volume slider - or about half way and Balance at 0db ) When I start to crank it up to anything more there is a bit of increasing hiss.... This is WAY higher then comfortable listening with the 846's though.

I actually had a test / eval unit from my company and was so impressed with it that I bought one when they were released. Post 365 actually quotes my XDA post about the initial impressions about it.
