Haha, I am really loving the album. It has been a long time since a song made me feel so euphoric

Just finished listening to this list.  I really enjoyed it, thanks for your effort, Negakinu.

In due course I will post a similar list, if you or anyone else is interested.

There are a ridiculous amount of great bands out there but I'll just start randomly naming the first 10 that pop into my head and I really like. :) The genres are all over the place, I apologize.
I'd fare better if you'd choose a genre.

I listened to it last night.  Not bad, not bad at all.  Some genuine song-craft on show.  I can hear some nice hardcore progressions in that tune, among other things.  I also like the dirty guitar tone.

So today i went to Best Buy to buy the newest Protest the Hero cd that came out today(which is pretty awesome in its own right, i think the best way to describe it would be a more "Musical" version of fortress) and i was checking twitter, and the MSN Metal blogger guy i follow had a post about how the new Born of Osiris CD was the only cd worth getting this week. Now i know that it was this thread that got me kind of into Born of Osiris, but I've never been the biggest fan of A Higher Place, but it aint bad, so i decided to goout on a limb and buy, Discovery. Long story short im happy i did. It's pretty stellar.

I also bought Belphegor's newest CD Black Magick Necromance, which is pretty awesome Blackened Death, and i grabbed Within Temptations last cd The Heart of Everything since i never bought it, to prepare for the new CD next week, The Unforgiving.

Personally I found the new PTH to be not that great...

Decibel also gave it a poor review (5 I believe) not that they know What they're talking about anyway. But the write up was pretty hilarious. Personally I think Kezia was the only "wow" album and everything else has been...meh.

I did just pick up the new Born of Osiris, but I haven't heard much of it yet.

I've been listening to this Castevet album a lot lately. It's pretty good.

What do you think? I play the bass for that band atm, but the previous bassist plays on that track (dont blame me! :).
What genre do you think it is?

Sounds like heavy metal to me.

Dude, tell the drummer to start using a click-track. That would help aligning the guitars with the drums. It's pretty off-beat in some parts. Vocals could use some work as well, but overall it sounds pretty proficient. Some of the leads drag on a bit though. Try to keep things compact? My two cents. \m/

I didn't think I could be genuinely surprised by a new Amon Amarth record, but WOW, I am surprised by Surtur Rising. I'm going to need several more listens to really get a sense of this record, which in itself says a lot I think. This is a genuinely different record.

OOO a thread about metal!

Maybe this question has been asked and answered but I'm too lazy to search this thread.  Do you guys have any recommendations for bands that sound like Children of Bodom (pre Hatecrew)?  I absolutely loved their first 3 albums, it all sounded so twisted and evil, absolutely beautiful.  Then their new stuff just got uncomplex and dull...  I prefer harsh vocals unlike stuff from progressive metal with the epic/operaish/clean (sorry don't know how to describe it) vocals.

Anyone here like After the Burial?  Absolutely loved their first album.  It was just so brutal but still complex; and just the style over all, had good feel to it.

This is the first time I've seen someone describe Children of Bodom as twisted and evil.

Their first albums are the jolliest thing since Christmas. They play happy metal! I mean, just look at the dudes:

If that ain't cuddlecore I don't know what is.

If you want more of that pulp check out Norther and Machine Men. Should be right up your alley.

Call it what you guys want but I like the stuff Alexi plays, back then at least, unique.

mmm didn't realize this thread didn't include metalcore, so I guess After the Burial doesn't count...check it out anyway! The album Forging a Future Self is fantastic.
