Tried a bunch of cans today.
The AKG K812 and Fostex TH900 are really good for Metal!
Get my seal of approval.

Nearly all 32 In Flames music videos in chronological order!

I couldn't find the ones for "Episode 666" (interestingly, filmed in 2005 by Patric Ullaeus despite being a 1997 song) and "Dial 595-Escape" on YouTube.

I already have two Les Pauls (one with a flame maple top, the other quilt maple) but I want this gorgeous guitar so bad.

Figured I'd share what I've been listening to and enjoying recently that has a decent shot at making my personal top 50 albums (period, not just metal) at the end of the year.

More hard rock than metal, but I think it'd find quite a few appreciative listeners here nonetheless.

One of the better grindcore albums I've heard this year, and maybe even the best. Enjoyed their previous albums so was expecting to enjoy this one too, but it wound up actually exceeding my expectations.

Just some seriously sinister sludge metal with a bit of post-rock prettiness. Like it quite a lot.

Been seeing some people expressing disappointment with this one, but I think it holds up to anything else in their discography. Maybe give it a few more listens?

I've also been listening to a few albums that you're not going to find on Bandcamp (I think, I guess I haven't double-checked.) ColdWorld's Autumn is I think a great piece of atmospheric black metal, and I'm a bit miffed that it's not getting more love. The new Fates Warning (Theories of Flight) is pretty decent prog metal, if that's your cup of tea (it's not always mine, but I find myself listening to and enjoying it quite a bit), and the new Dillinger Escape Plan (Dissociation) is wild, and highly recommended.

Edit: Oh yeah, and my most anticipated metal album of the year is dropping tomorrow: Ulcerate: Shrines of Paralysis. Haven't listened to any preview tracks or streams or leaks or anything. I want to dive into it completely fresh.

The Somnambulist will surely be among my list of most infectious songs of 2016. Epic and sinister stuff. Overall, PoL is such a fascinating next step after their previous album.

I saw ColdWorld's Autumn on Bandcamp recently, but it was quickly taken down.

Some months ago I listed Setentia's stunning debut album among best of 2016 so far. It will finally be released by Blood Music on 11 November. Toilet ov Hell just posted a thrilling 'review' where they pitted Ulcerate against Setentia in "The Battle for the New Zealand Crown of Dissonant Death": http://www.toiletovhell.com/ulcerate-vs-setentia-the-battle-for-the-new-zealand-crown-of-dissonant-death/

Spoiler alert: Setentia won by knockout. Anyone who likes Ulcerate, should give Setentia a go. Basically a more melodic, dynamic, varied and proggier version of Ulcerate.

After I let Ulcerate soak in this weekend I'll see if I concur.

I've been listening heavily to Asphyx's Incoming Death. I love this band.

And, Forteresse, Themes Por La Rebellion-a Quebec black metal band that I think is quite good. This is fast and intense atmospheric/ambient melodic black metal that hits pretty hard. Great stuff. Quebec Separatist BM-don't know much about the politics, but I like this record a lot.

Love most of Meshuggah's albums... just realized a few days ago there was a new one... The Violent Sleep Of Reason.... it's great... apparently it was recorded "live" in the studio...all instruments at the same time... they are impressive to say the least.

Yeah, it was the talk of the thread for awhile. It was performed live in the studio multiple times, then they combined parts from various takes to get the final sound.

Whipped up a Modi MB > Pathos Aurium > Elear setup whilst I have the headphones in for testing courtesy of my local Focal dealer - listening to Ghost's new Popestar EP, too ******* good. Square Hammer is probably my song of the year and their cover of Bible by Imperiet is incredible, I wish their tour for it wasn't North American only, been a year almost since I last saw them in November and their show was sick.

Now who will pray for Babylon.
