you were to buy a set of headphones, god forbid, based entirely on aesthetics - SQ and price aside. Floats taking an abvious first here, what would come second? I would pick the K701s.

BTW I'm not looking for advice, this is just supposed to be a fun thread.

Grado.

No sarcasm.

I think the RS-1 is beautiful. Same with the SR-325i, MS-2, RS-2, and GS-1000. They're beautiful cans. Not derivative, either, since no one makes anything like them.

I also bought the K-1000 partially for aesthetics. It has a certain Bauhaus feel to it that I really like. There's nothing ugly about it in my opinion. I also like that it is radically different from everything else, before or since.

The K-701 was made to capitalize on the iPod trend. Nothing revolutionary or innovative about it. However, I'd still consider one for its excellent sound quality.

Have my MS-1s woodied.

That way I'd have something pretty to look at when I listen to my next set of "perfect" cans.

I may be alone in the thought that Grado's new flagship actually looks good. And I agree, the RS1s are the (2nd) best woodies. Having a guitar made of solid mahogany (my x50pro - GET ONE), I appreciate it's sonic qualities and imagine it'd be the same for headphones. It's warmer than Alder (I.E. strats). It has a clear but satifsyingly full sound in the mids/highs and it's very responsive when it comes to bass. Alder is kinda like ETYs. Mahogany is like...RS1s...although I haven't heard either (of the headphones),so that judgement is made from what I've read about them.

Personally, I prefer grados woodies over ATs for aesthetics. ESPECIALLY the modded ones.
