I own a set of K1000s and can say, in my opinion, the K340s does not sound anywhere like them. Instead would recommend some beyer headphones, probably the DT880/250 ohm. Also consider the K601 which sound nice and spacious but don't have the same microdetail of the K1000 or DT880.

joking aside, I tried this years back at another head-fier's house
it sounded quite impressive

I can't remember exactly what brand/model speaker it was

I believe the speakers were quite a bit cheaper than the K1000s

The closest headphone would be two house speakers sitting one foot from each ear.
