I have a set of Grado 225s that i might get a portable amp for but i'm really confused with all these choices for amps. Is there a big difference between these, since theyre in the same price range ($50-70)?

I like cmoy amps for chip rolling.

I'd toss cmoy out of the mix too... The other two are definitely better.

I own the LDM+ and can tell you it has wonderful battery life (up to 200 hours per charge) good build quality, excellent portability, and a lithium-ion rechargeable battery included in the mix.

Did I mention it sounds damn good for its price too? Very neutral and detailed with great dynamics.

From what I've read the PA2V2 is not as neutral, it gives a warm coloration to the sound, with a slight emphasis on the bass, and is not as detailed/refined as the LDM+

well the reason i was looking for an amp was because the 225s dont seem to drive acoustic/folk music well. Its not as clean as i would like it to sound, so LDM+ then?

If you want a nice, round and musical experience then try the PA2V2. It does have a slight emphasis on bass though the highs never really are rolled off as much as some people think they are. Gary's customer support is second to none and so I'd highly recommend it.

Also consider your typical listening environment. If you're like me and use your 225 outdoors, the PA2v2's warmth and slight bass tilt made it ideal for noisier areas. I have not heard the LDM+.

Seconded for Gary's amazing customer service. Lifetime Warranty covers accidental damage too!

the LDM+ won't be better than a iPod Shuffle,

for a step up, especially if you listen to dynamic music thru low sensitivity cans like grados you need more power to avoid clipping, for a portable this means more V as well as current drive

the LDM+ lacks V, most cmoy DIP op amp options lack current

the ppav2 with a higher voltage 9.6V "9V" battery is probably the best option of these 3

with 2X 9V battery supply or 12V+ wall wart the ppav2 should really be competive up to 3-4x the cost

I had PA2V2! Its true to say that it colours the music and give some emphasis to bass. It was replaced by XENOS 0HA REP and has excellent SQ! Completely flat but well extended frequency response!

hmm, well over in the LDM+ thread there are numerous reports of the great synergy of the LDM+ with grados

And, between the 0HA-REP and the LDM+ (which I happen to have and use daily in my 'bedside rig', although I'm thinking of switching to the Go-Vibe as soon as my new amp(s) arrive), I doubtlessly give the nod to the Xenos. Sound wise it's better in every way.

I have to disagree: I have tried my HD595's with an ipod shuffle (haedphone jack) and then with LDM+ on my rig (see my signature) The amp gives TONS more of dynamics to the HD595's, as well as more details and better instrument separation. It's a CLEARLY audible difference, I've made A/B comparisons and the difference was definitely there and well discernable.
