I just got to demo these a few days ago. I’m looking for some good bass but clear great sounding cans.

I’m curious to get everyone’s opinion on these three.

Audeze LCD-2
Audeze LCD-X/XC
Focal Elear

I started with the LCD-2. My source was my iPhone 6s Plus. Music was Depeche Mode single Precious first song. iTunes purchase. Then the free album Apple gave users. U2 Songs of innocence. Then 3 games. DC Legends, World Warfare, Galaxy of Heroes.

Amazing sound. I prefer closed back for the noise isolation. I know these are open. Just so clear. Good bass but not great. Balanced in sound. Not too bright. Didn’t hurt my ears. Could use more bass. Heavy. Huuuuuge!!! Fall off my head if I tilted it forward much. Ear pads comfortable though ok.

Now Elear. Awesome sound too. BUT,,,, very harsh with treble and voices causing sibilance in voices sometimes. Hard treble. Maybe too bright? Very clear. A bit more bass but not much. I noticed it. Not so heavy on my head. Wouldn’t fall off my head so easy.

Audeze LCD-X now. Bass!!!! Wow for headphone. Again not too hard with voices or treble. Both Audeze were easier on my ears. Again huge and etc. Ear pads still nice.

I couldn’t tell which headphone I preferred. I was so amazed with the LCD-2. But then both other cans have better/more bass. The LCD-X *maybe* seemed like something was off about the sound compared to the LCD-2. I don’t remember plus I did not listen long. But man its bass is very nice and overall sound i thought was easier on my ears then the Elear.

I tried the Dragonfly Black but it won’t work on iPhone 6s Plus. It said not enough power. So I tried Dragonfly Red and it worked.

I only listened to a couple minutes. I forget which headphone with the Red. But I noticed of course louder and possibly better sound. Maybe a tiny bit warmer. Not sure.

I ordered the Audeze LCD-XC since I prefer closed. I also ordered the Dragonfly Red. Hopefully they’ll be here this week.

Just curious for everyone’s thoughts on these headphones.

Honestly I would have picked a better amp to drive those headphones. I don't think the dragonfly units are powerful enough to get 100% performance out of any of those headphones

I owned all three and would rank them Elear > LCD-X > LCD-2F based on preference more than any objective criteria.

The Elear is tuned a lot like the HD 650; neutral-ish, but a little warm and dark. Not bright at all.

And yes, get good gear for your 'phones.

Is it true that these audezes do not have a good construction? The qualifications of LCD-2 in amazon for example are not so good, some people say that one side has stopped working.

A bunch of people say the drivers randomly stop working but mine is going strong. The build is fine but they're not very comfortable at all. It takes serious getting used to
