Too bad thinksecret is notoriously unreliable when it comes to iPod news. They will wildly speculate on pretty much anything, and they're only usually correct in a vaguely general sense.

ThinkSecret is the most reliable of the rumor sites (Macrumors, AppleInsider, etc.). They've been less the last couple big announcements, but history is on their side.

It's not hard to be right now and then if you report "Apple may release a new iPod that might possibly have video soon!" all the time.

You're not alone Skylab. I am at 175GB in iTunes by now. Of course I don't need all that on the go, but 80GB would be nice. I thought about buying a 60GB 5G or 4G (& habe it Redvined) should tuesday not yield something I consider more appealing though, since my 20GB 3G is just not cutting it with ALAC.

Yeah, 80, 100, or 120 GB -- any of those would make me happier. I'm about 140GB in iTunes, and the more I can take on the road, the merrier!

100-120 - no such drives, AFAIK. 80 is available, Apple just has to use them.

As you have the Redvined 4G, did you, or anyone else, compare it against a 5G? What would you rather have? From what I read the R4G is all milk & honey, but the basic 60GB 4G is still darn expensive in Euroland. Aesthetics aside, the 5G also has 64MB RAM, which I assume help with any lossless induced skipping (sometimes troublesome on the 3G)...

Yup. Apple uses 1.8" drives only. 120GB only comes in 2.5" drives.

Check this out though:
Fujitsu to Make 120GB 1.8-inch Hard Drive

Fujitsu has long made hard drives for notebook computers, but only the 2.5-inch normal size drives. Toshiba dominates the 1.8-inch and smaller hard drive market. Fujitsu thinks it can compete though, by bringing the quality they are known for in the 2.5-inch hard drives to the smaller size 1.8-inch variety. The 1.8-inch hard drive is popular in ultraportable and sub notebooks. Fujitsu hopes to produce and sell a 120GB 1.8-inch hard drive by September of 2007.

What about this? 80GB 1.8" http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/12...0gb_1-8in_hdd/

I have never had the chance to compare to the 5G. but the RedWine'd 4G sounds much better than my Nano.
