Ok I'm hoping to find the perfect closed headphones and they need to be very comfortable, unassuming (not huge), have decent isolation, and leak little to no noise along with being a perfect fit to my ipod that I'll carry without an amp. What I'm looking at to satisfy my classic rock, alternative, metal, trance, techno needs are the D1000s, ES7s, and ANC7s. Please help.

Just get the ES7's and get on with life. We have 2 pair in this household and love them.

I've heard good things about the ES7s. The D1000s are supposed to be very comfortable which is my main concern but they don't isolate at all? I thought they isolated somewhat. Leakage would be more important to me anyways and that combined with comfort in a situation where I wouldn't want to disturb others such as in a plane or library would be ideal for me. My budget is around $100/$130. ES7s and D1000s can be had for pretty much the same price which is why I'm going back and forth on this.

The d1000's arn't going to work in a plane. My d2000's dont even isolate enough for the library. (I need to go to a quiet floor)
I dont think the es7's isolate enough for a plane either.

Check out skylab's review on sub 150$ headphones.

According to his review, the ES7 and D1000 rank last in isolation but the D1000 is better in every other category. I'd like to have isolation but also want more than just that. I guess its D1000s for me unless anyone can suggest something better that would suit me?????

I haven't heard the D-1000 yet, but I know the ATH-M50 (which I use a lot on the move) has pretty decent bass and decent mid/highs as well. They fold up, are pretty robust, isolate very well, and are not that big... I don't think the SQ is going to be as good as the D-1000, but it's cheaper (I got it for $130 shipped) and has a coiled cable (which is handy for portables). You might want to take a look at it.

Your budget is too small for perfection. Far far too small.

It's not a big investment. Just pick one. If you don't like them, you can always sell them on the FS forum here. I still say go with the D1000.

True but for the comfort I want, D2000s don't isolate well either and I was willing to go for them. Oh well....I'm not ready to spend $500 plus just yet.
