So I push them in fully, and I must not have a brain

, because once they get in far enough my ear canal widens and I lose the seal -- all my bass disappears and I can hear around me pretty easily. One thing I notice is they're SUPER detailed when I get them to that point. Pulling them out is also a pain at this point, so I assume I should be stopped before then by some type of tight fit. Help please!

Try the large Shure black olive foamies. They will almost certainly do the trick. If your ear canal is larger than the large black olive, thats a miracle of anatomical science.

lol, no foamies! No disposables. I can't even get the ety foamies in right. Maybe I should just get customs? Anyone have any suggestions for good customs?

edit: Not that I'm giving up on just larger/more comfortable rubber/other universal tips?

You might try Shure grey softips. They come in S, M, and L, and although I prefer mediums in my Etys (which insert farther), I use large softips on my UM2s. I obtain near perfect seal with both IEMs. Shure sells a sampler pack that contains foamies, softips, and cleartips in all sizes. You can then get 5 pair of the right size for about $20 shipped, maybe cheaper elsewhere. But, the sampler pack is a good idea to try out different tips to find the right ones for you. Note: it is common for one ear canal to be slightly larger than the other. Good luck.
