I don't know if there is a thread for this amp...but there should be! It's a great headphone amp designed for studio use but also works great for home use.

It costs $550US.

I did a review here: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/lake-people-g111.25163/reviews#review-25874

So uhm, first question is... How to set it to 115V? Manual does not say.

As I understand, the unit will run fine set to 230V, using a 115V power cord, but not at best performance(50% power loss).

How to change Lake People G111 mains voltage to 115V or 230V (Official:tm: Lake People:copyright: information for G111, V100, V200, and other applicable models; probably G109, G107, G103):

I assume this guide works for the G111. It's the Violectric HPA models in that pictorial guide. I realize Violectric is Lake People's Buick-like brand but just want to make sure we are explicit it will work for G111 too. Have you confirmed?

I have not performed this surgery myself, on my own G111, but I was told by a Lake Person this is in fact the same operation for G111(and I think also for G109, G103, maybe others).

It does seem kinda plain looking
It's a tank. But could have sexier bevels and RGB lighting or something, I guess. I don't have a ton of amps, or headphones, to have a more thorough take on it, but from what I've heard so far I would describe it as "smooth and spacious", over the competition. I think it's got the smoothest, most controlled treble I've heard, and possibly the most spacious sound, but not the greatest bass impact or highest raw detail. More buttery than crispy. More wide open than most.

I might like that. I have many headphones with plenty of bass, and the "better" controlled treble is a BIG plus for me. Does this model and the Violectric brand amps go on sale often?

Never seen one below MSRP. They are fairly uncommon amps to see around, it seems. I suppose I would try a V280(or 280 based variant) or G111, depending on budget. In my case, preparing for buying a high-end, wide, spacious headphone like Verite Open in the future, I was told the G111 is good enough for headphones up to ~$2500. I don't have a VO yet, so I can't say lol.

Sadly no. The Vio brand's V2** series pops up on the used market with some regularity, though.
