L3000- Close to End of Limited production run?

I was just checking the prices in Japan for the L3000 and I find that the street prices have increased atleast 10% in the last 10 days.

Since one Hfier has a L3000 above serial #430, it looks like that Audio Technica is close to ending production on the L3000 as it was only limited to 500 units.

I must admit I'm curious, but I think I'll wait for a new 'pure Japanese' model. After all, the CEO's mother's 75th wedding anniversary can't be far off... that will surely spawn another Limited Edition model

Production was over a 3 month period, IIRC Nov/Dec '93 and Jan '94. So anything you buy 'new' has literally been sitting around on some shelf for nearly 2 years now.

you mean Nov/Dec '03 and Jan '04.

thought no one was interested anymore since that thread died down and I was hoping I would get away with not having to write a comparison. guess not.
