Kuala Lumpur International AV Show (KLIAV) 2018 Impressions Thread
Aug 21, 2018 at 2:39 AM Post #17 of 75
So glad to find someone who shares my impressions on the LCD-i4, Zombie and 820. Great writeup.

Hope you'd get a chance at the N8 in the future. I've a feeling you might... feel things for it.
Thanks man. I'm reeeeeeally hoping having the Legend X would quell whatever feelings I might harbour for the N8.

My favorite part is the 2 of the last 3 pictures
My writing style is inspired by cracked.com but my photography style is inspired by King Rudi lol

Bro I could not locate the LPG Touch! Was it in the Advanced room? I went but didn't see it there.

Hahaha, I just happened to meet a representative from an audio retailing company (can't remember the company for the life of me) and he was kind enough to let me try it for about 30 minutes.

I guess I got to try something special too

In short, it sounds like a mix of the SP1000 and N8. I'll see if I can find my full impressions and post it here.

Here you go

The Paw Gold Touch can be best described as a compromise between the N8 and the SP1000.

Its not as holographic as the SP1000 but it has some of it. The soundstage is not massive like the N8 but it's noticeably more spacious compared to the SP1000. Lets say the N8 is rated a 20 for soundstage and the SP1000 a 15. The Paw Gold Touch would be a 17.

In terms of tonality it would be closer to the SP1000 but with a bit more body.

Personally I found the Paw Gold Touch to be the most neutral among the three.

In terms of ergonomics the N8 would be the nicest to hold and the SP1000 being a bit cumbersome due to its width. The N8 is very thick though.

Looks like I missed out! Do share your other impressions here if you have the time. I barely tried 20% of what's available!

Oh man, what an impressive first 3 posts
For me these were probably the most fun posts I've seen/read this year so far.

Excellent writing style and some superb pictures on top of that => thanks for sharing!

Thanks as always, Erik. It's a pleasure to write. Asian way of thinking. When in doubt, insert food pictures.

For head-fiers yearning for more information about the KuraDa IEM, I snapped this spec sheet. It has been added to the main post.

Stock Brise Audio STR7-STD cable, nice!

(As an aside the Brise Audio STR7-REF is the best cable I've heard at the show, bringing magical clarity and musicality to the whole freq spectrum. People were passing it around at the Stars Picker room like the village bicycle. But at USD700+ for a pure copper cable, it should also make sandwiches for you.)

Price USD1980, not so nice!

I didn't try everything there either. Not because I don't have the time but because I frequent starspicker and E1 personal audio. So I have heard most of what they have.

In fact, I tried out the N8 at starspicker 3-4 days before I went to the AV show.

Did you try kurada's truly "open back" headphones?

I didn't. No time! Hahaha. How was it?
Not good considering it's price :/

But maybe it was too noisy. Starspicker's staff said it sounds better closed actually lol.
