Wanted to know if anyone out there dismantled the KSC50 before/yet?

Im looking for some pictures because I want to remove the clip that keeps the headphones to the ear and replace them with something that can give me a much more secure/tighter clamp to my head.

I don't know how the headphones are connected to the ear piece and wanted to see how they looked (see if this mod is even possible)

I have the KSC75's and prefer them greatly because of the better seal.

If anyone has any information I'd be much appreciative.

(Thinking of maybe something over the head IE: K26P or PX100 styling.)

EDIT: Okay got anxious and just tore one clip off.. and learned there was a screw under there!

So if anyone is wondering how to remove the ear clip first you take out the driver (It snaps off) and under you can unscrew the ear clip off be warned there is a spring in there so it will go flying out.)

Now i just need a headband that can hold these drivers inplace even better if they have some kind of housing.

The AKG k26p (which imo is very comfortable) the drivers are glued on so I dont want to rip them off. Also i think i might run into some trouble considering the K26P's are closed type.

Would be awesome if i could find some headbands similer to the K26P that would fit the KSC50 drivers into them.

Anyone have any kind of suggestiongs!

Just made ksc55 out of the ksc50. I guess that will do for now.

Still have some bare ksc50 drivers (the housing was dismantled and destroyed at the expense of learning)

The drivers still work I just dont know what i can do w/ them...

Searched the sony v200 mod. Looks very nice maybe i should go the same route.

Just find a pair of headphones that have dual cord entry and 40mm drivers. Then pop out the old drivers and mount the KSC drivers inside them. I personally tried putting them in some Eggphones (generic Eggos). Which was working out quite well. They sounded similar to stock and the over-the-head, circum-aural fit was much more comfortable easy to use than the clips. Now that I have gotten the UR40's for home use I have returned my KSC75's back to stock configuration which I use for portables (along with my silver modded EX71's).

Here's a link to my Eggphones mod:

And here's a link to some pics:

And here's a pic of them w/my UR40's (I normally was using them with the back of the Eggphones enclosures off for a totally open design):

Cool mod but im looking for something alittle cleaner looking (Preferably this mod would allow me to return my K26P). I want to do the v200 mod but i dont have all the tools or the know how (soldering the wires on and off).

I think im going to go to the 99 cent stores/ thrift stores and see if they have any old headbands i can use.

If you just put the outer earcups back on my Eggphones (2 screws for each side) the mod is completely un-noticeable (except for the increased sound quality). I actually used them this way for quite a while. I found they seemed a little bit bassier, but slightly more conjested/muffled.

This is exactly how they look with the outer earcups put back on:

In the end I was using them without the earcups on to get the most clear sound possible. I think that with the earcups removed and foam taken out from inside the earcup (between the driver and ear) that these headphones have much better clarity than the stock KSC75's or UR40's (with or without the foam behind the drivers).

For Kramer's mod (or basically any other driver transplant) you do not NEED to solder the resistors or upgrade the cable. These are just something he did to get the most out of the drivers. The only thing to remember when choosing an enclosure for the Koss drivers is that it must be open (that is why he dremeled out the back).
