I was wandering which phones for home to buy...
Koss PortaPro was the one, but I've read they have a good bass. So? It should be good, but is ist the same "good bass" like in the plug? because I listen to many kinds of music and I like solo guitar very much (Satriani, Vai) so I wouldn't like to hear only "bzzz"

so, are Koss PortaPro one of the best in their price but not only because of good bass, but also in overview?
I was thinking about buying Sharp MD33, but I want something to listen indoor.
PS. I will have a Micro Zen

Any of the 60 ohm koss cans your gona love with that music. They sound so much better the the plug. The plug is boomy and muddy, the 60 ohm koss sound so much cleaner and more detailed. The MD33 are far better then the plug but not as good as the koss IMO

When i say 60 ohm koss, they have alot of different headphones that use the same driver. So you dont have to just limit yourself with the portapros. The clip-ons, the UR40, R/200, Pro-1, KSC35/75

I would get the koss before the MD33

I have a Zen Xtra and the Koss cans i have sound really good on mine. My portable is lacking in the bass area even with the EQ and these are just enough to help thicken it up.

I love Vai and Satriani, favorites "summer song" by Satriani and "bad horsie" by Vai

IMHO Satch and Vai sound a little bright on my KSC75. IMHO their recorded guitar tones are substantially brighter and more brittle than Petrucci, May, Lynch, Lifeson, Maiden. Its funny when I saw Satch at the Warfield his guitar tone was much fatter than his tone on tape....

Sometimes I prefer to listen to them on my e2c... I bounce back and forth e2c-KSC75. The porta is bassier than the 75 and less distant sounding so IMHO it would be a great choice...

**edit**
Bring your portable player into radio shack and demo their KTXPro1. It uses the same driver as the porta and KSC. IMHO it sounds nearly identical to the porta. I did this and eneded up buying my KSC from JR music.

Satch rocks even through stock earbuds

but you don't want to make lil' satch cry, do you?
His guitar just sings through my KSC-35s, I bet the PortaPro will do just as good.
You'll like em!

Yes, his guitar sings like the Yukon bear trappers annual trip to the brothels.

Personally I cannot recommend the portapros. I don't think they have good bass. Infact the bass is quite terrible to me. It's all muddy and bloated. Last time I used them i looked for the bass boost button to turn off the terrible bass, but I realized that bass boost wasn't on. I also find that they rip out hair. Since then I've let someone else borrow them, but he doesn't use them all at. But then again, I have a friend who seems to be a bass head, and he loves them. So personally I cannot recommend them and think they are terrible, but if you love bass you may love these.

This is kind of OT, but I don't want to start a new thread for a small question.

Have any of you ever sent in headphones for replacement/repair? I sent mine in last week, and it's been 8 days. The repair centre is 40-50km away from where I live.

i don't listen to much music like vai and satriani, but i listen to speed metal, sometimes. the portapros sing for it. they cost a tiny fraction of the cost of the CD3000's that i have on my head right now, but they are just as enjoyable if you are in the right frame of mind.

Same feeling here..
After using the ER4 for a month, it was horrible that I turned back to the koss pp, I couldn't believe that how did I s adapt to its bass before ownning th Ety. I'm not a bass head, and IMHO, there should be EQ (something like the reduce bass or boost treble) when using the them.

They do rip out hair once in awhile

Have you ever listened to an amped pair of portapros? I'm not saying it's worth the extra money....but good amping does help "de-Flab" the bass and really improves things (same for KSC-35's).

KSC-75s are great open cans for an iPod. I use them with my mini, the extra bass of the Koss drivers helps the iPod out a little (as we all know it has rolled-off bass... those damn output coupling caps).

Still prefer my E3cs though, just a lot more detailed.

Mods, WE NEED A SHURE SMILEY.
