I am currently using my COWON Z2 with a Plenue D on the way. (I’m using really late to parties!)
After some burn in and BBE/EQ these are great. The term ‘controlled’ comes to mind. I’m picking up new things in GnR that I haven’t noticed (and I have Appetite, Illusion I & II on cassette, vinyl and CD!) Kinda a fanboy.
And Modest Mouse is absolutely fantastic as well. What a nice inexpensive piece of kit!

I will need to listen to that. I saw in your profile that you also like Leonard Cohen... an all time favorite of mine.

Leonard is definitely at the top of my list! Modest Mouse - Good News album is pretty good. I’m not a huge fan of other ones but this one caught my fancy years ago!

If you're buying the PartsExpress headphone from Amazon.com, according to recent reviews, the headband has changed.

An Amazon reviewer posted a photo of the new headband and it still fits, but looks more awkward:
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71cbaMKb0GL.jpg

A user on /r/headphones noted that "the ends of the metal band are enclosed in cheap plastic and the whole thing is very flimsy":
https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/6gyfx6/headband_for_koss_ksc75/djhcy9s/

Just a FYI.

It looks like you lose some of the slight, rotating ability for the driver that the old PartsExpress headband used to have. Although, I'm purely speculating at this point.
So remember I noted that Amazon started selling a Parts Express headphone with a different headband:

I believe I've found the OEM for this alternative headphone, AV Link SC27:

This is cheap for those in the UK. For those in Canada or elsewhere, you can try eBay.

If the Amazon review is any indication, it should fit, but how snug over the "original" Parts Express headband is another question.

Decided to give it a try. Will report back to say if it worked or not.

Update - So I went through all 60+ pages of this thread again and saw that some risky head-fiers already tried either the same or similar-looking headphone with unsuccessful results:

Should have looked through the whole thread! :triportsad:

Using my newly acquired FiiO X1, I compared my KSC75's with a set of the JVC flats (HA-S160) last night....and, to my surprise, I preferred the JVC. Better treble was the main thing I noticed and liked.

https://www.amazon.com/JVC-HAS160B-Lightweight-Headband-Headphones/dp/B004JRYLG4

I'll do some more comparing this weekend, using diffferent styles of music.

I recently bought the JVC Flats as well and I'm quite impressed with them, especially at their price point.

The KSC75s are warmer, but the JVC Flats have more, forward highs.

Here's a GIF I made with the KSC75 FR vs. the Flats FR:

CIUdntd.gif

*Graphs are from GoldenEars.net.

The KSC75s low-end is higher between 40 - 200 Hz, whereas the high-end for the Flats is higher between 2k - 10k Hz.

The lower impedence of the JVC Flats makes them easier to drive as well. Some negatives are you have to position the JVC Flats correctly to get the proper seal and the ear pads are less comfortable than the foam of the KSC75s.

The Flats are more similar to the Phillips SHP9500s, so those who found the KSC75s too bright and fatiguing will definitely not like the JVC Flats!

So, these are two cans with different sound signatures, but are indeed, two, very cost-effective killers!

Forgot to mention the socket on one side was quite loose and I shimmed it with a small piece of aluminum foil....works great and sound impressive for ~$20

Good tip. One of mine is a bit looser than the other. If it falls off I will do that.

Yeah, I recently tried switching my KSC75s onto my PortaPro headband and my left side socket is looser. Going to try the aluminum foil mod or some other material that's similar.

Yup, good tip. Aluminum foil will probably work better than the piece of paper towel that I'm using!
