Hi!
I´ve just bought the Sennheiser mx500 (in ear headphones)..
The mx500 was great, but I also think that I would like some "not inte ear" headphones.. And now I consider buying the Koss KSC-55... Is the ksc-55 still good or is there any else headphones which is better in the same price sektion?

I've been using the KSC55's for a year now and I still reckon they are an awesome sounding street headphone. All my mates at uni use those Sony Streetstyle headphones and when they compared the Koss KSC55, majority thought the Koss were streets ahead.

My only gripe is sometimes the bands leave my ears a bit sore if I don't adjust them properly. But shockingly, I've found they sound alot better than large cans.

Right now, the KSC-55 is still the only "true" behind-the-neck Street Style headphone that I'd recommend. The newest top-of-the-line Sony Street Style headphone, the MDR-G74SL, comes pretty close (from what I've read), and also folds up for easy pocketability - but it costs twice as much money as the KSC-55.

I'm not sure about other good options under $20, but for about $40 you could get the Sennheiser PX100 or PX200. Both are portable, and good quality for the price. I have the PX200 and was very happy with it until I decided to upgrade to something pricier.

i had the ksc-55 for a long while, and loved them... better than the ksc-50, though not quite as good as the ksc-35. for $20 or less, they can't be beat, and there's no other 'streetstyle' i'd even consider.

the two caveats, though minor:
  1. if you have even a slightly larger than average-sized head, they could be a little tight and uncomfortable.
  2. the build quality isn't the greatest, as i utterly destroyed mine pretty easily.

i've up/crossgraded to the senn px100, which are markedly better, but the ksc-55 made me portably happy for awhile.
