Well, here's the situation. My friend is stuck with stock phones, and he can't order junk online - you know how paranoid some people are of the internet. So, I suggested he reimburse me the money for these headphones. The question I have, not having heard the KSC-55's for myself, is that would the upgrade justify the price?

I've tried the KSC-55 and it's not too bad. It's definitely better than stock headphones/earbuds. There are many places online selling them for slightly under $14 US, so it's not expensive at all and definitely worth the money.

The only warning I have for you is that if your friend has a big head, he might find the KSC-55 too tight.

If that's the case, you can encourage him to get the KSC-50 clip-ons, or better yet, get the KSC-35 clip-ons from Koss if they still have them available.

KSC-55 have the same legendary drivers as portaPro's, KSC-50 and KSC-35. They are definately better than stock earbuds... as long as they fit your head!

You see, KSC-55 has a band that looks like it holds on your ears, but in reality it 'pinches' your head.

If your friend has a BIG head, he will probably not be able to wear them...

His head isn't too large, but from what I understand, the KSC 50 and 55 are identical, driver-wise. They just have different casings... I just hate the street-style headphones, you can't even sit back with them. That's why I was thinking of the 55s.

I was in the same boat with KSC-50s. They just wouldn't stay on my ears. Then I got the KSC-35s, and they fit perfectly! I would give the '35s a try if you can find them; they work much better than the '50s.

Buy it from bestbuy or some other local shop and return it if it doesn't fit.
