So i have decieded to get myself a pair of good in-ears and i started looking at Klipsch X10, Custom 3 and IE8 because they are all similar prised but now i have started to get a little more instrested by the Klipsch ones.
So what are the big differens between X10 and Custom 3? Wich do you prefer?

My source will be a h140+D10 and and my trusty Iphone!
Music taste: A little bit of everything but mostly melodious metal, new rock and hardcore!

hmm based on ur music genres, i would get something like the ie7's. i use to own the x10's and read up about the ie8's. not so much on the custom 3's tho.

so i say to definitely NOT get the x10's because..

1. the microphonics are very bad, almost unbearable, thats why i sold mine off.
2. a lot of bass. x10's i admit are good if u listen to a lot of hip hop/rap but thats not the case in ur situation.
3. the mids are recessed i believe. i remember when i was using them, there wasnt enough mids.

the ie8's i hear are very very bass heavy. im not sure if u would want that much bass. as for the mids, idk, but all i know is that ppl say they are bass heavy.

custom 3's i hear some issues with the build quality. i also hear that they are very natural sounding.

ill leave it for others to comment on the ie8's and custom 3's. i know for sure that i would not recommend the x10's for u based on my past experiences.

First, I want to mention that there's already a thread with this exact same title. You might want to go read that thread instead of posting a new one. The search box is your friend.

That said, I really enjoy my X10's. They are VERY variable based on the eartips you use. I've tried the stock gels, Complys foams, and am now using custom tips. With the stock gels they are pretty bassy. With Complys I got a good balance. The Complys are generally considered bassy, but I think since I was inserting the phones deeper in my ear it was bringing out the treble. With custom tips, they are pretty balanced and a little toward the treble side. Definitely not a basshead phone with custom tips. The bass is there, and I'm definitely getting a seal because if I EQ some bass up it's solid, but the treble really gets more dominant with custom tips.

The short version is, I think the X10 is a great set of earphones, and if you experiment with tips you should be able to get the sound you want. That may require buying something other than the stock gels though. The gels are very comfortable, but not my favorite for sound signature.

I haven't had any big issues with microphonics. I do have a problem if I let the cord get twisted, but if I keep the cord straight I don't have a problem. The gels are worse than the complys or custom tips for microphonics too. And I mostly use them at a desk or in bed. X10's are definitely not headphones for working out with, especially with the gels.

Anyhow, that's my two cents on the X10's. I'm very happy with mine, but I invested another $100 in custom earmolds.

@Myself: Well your thoughts about X10 doesnt sound so good, thats one down for them i guess. I havent really looked so much at the IE7 guess i have to check em up a little more.

@barleyguy: Yes i was a little lazy but i also wanted to get a little focus on teh differens between them using and D10 amp.
You sound much more positiv to the X10 thou i don't think i will get any custom tips but those complys foams seems intressting. Are those the kind that you squeeze together before puting them in your ears and they grow? Similar to koss the plug?

Thanks both for the answers but i'm not still shure wich to go for :/

I definitely suggest to look into the IE7 and IE8. Read both of the appreciation threads. I had the IE7 and when the opportunity came by me to upgrade to the IE8, I took it. I haven't looked back.

IE7 sounded more laid back to me. I wouldn't say boring, but I guess they were simply more balanced than the IE8. I think the bass quantity of the IE8 is overemphasized. It's not as bad as a lot of people claim. And BTW, I'm comparing the two phones after ~300 hours burn-in on the both of them.

sound wise i fined the custom 3 and the IE7 to be rather similar, the big differences between them for me are the custom 3 isolates amazingly well with some olives on, the IE7 doesnt isolate very well. the cable on the IE7 is great, the one on the custom 3 is crap.

Yes, the complys are the foam tips that you squeeze together, and then they expand and get soft as they get warm in your ears. The Klipsch X10 fits both the T100 and the T400. Comply lists the T100 for the X10, but the T400 fits on the outer ring of the earphone, and with the T400 you get a bigger sound tube and more treble. That's the one I would recommend, unless you like the dark bassy sound with the smaller sound tube.

The T130s also work with the X10s (those Complys are made for the PFEs). You can get three pair for $13 shipped at the Audeo site. I use the T130 larges (which are a bit larger in circumference but not height). I am new to using foamies with the X10s, and I must say, I like it.
