Kinda OT, but I value your opinions: What's a good iPod dock?

Not that I have an iPod, but a good friend of mine is looking for a good one. He said he heard Kipsch is good... Seeing that I don't have an iPod, I don't know anything about docks. Suggestions? He's thinking Bose price range, if that helps. Thanks!

.....most of us do not dock an iPod to a cheap speaker setup - the usual terminology re dock is a connector that joins iPod to amplifier from the line-out connector. Historically, my personal regard of those two makers you mentioned is quite low. But, that's just my opinion.
What you and your friend should do is go wherever they are sold and listen to them. If a store does not allow you to audiition them - you are in a store where you should not be making a purchase.

Makes sense... I wouldn't ever get a dock myself, but it's my friend wants one for some reason.

i think the OP means dock as in a docking station with built in speakers--which bushguy gave his opinion on how they may not be very good. i personally think the only reason to get them is for strict space issues and super gaudy looks.

my advice would be to get a cheap pair of bookshelf speakers ($100-) and a T-amp (~$40 with wallwort and cables) and you have yourself an awesome setup for an iPod for way less than $200
