Well the khadas is regarded as very good in any case. Just not the best to use with pre-amp and speakers due to weak grounding plane. For headphone amplifier use it works well!

Modi3+ Yes, monolith liquid spark DAC good budget option too. JDS Atom DAC also an option if you can live with USB input only?

If I`m not mistaken only Modi 3+ has no additional power supply, I`m looking for a device with only USB power/data.
And I suppose Schiit is some kind of hype. Do not understand why Modi3+ could be better than Khadas Tone Board ? According to specification Khadas Tone Board even better
