As an update I understand Valentin has run some tests and shared graphs with me with the mod he did in Russia to emulate the soft fluffy dot and open ports to be removable - he promised to get back to me with a sample so I can compare his revision and mine- and I will in turn send mine back for more tests (I just dont want to give it up! but so is the pursuit of perfecting this upgrade) he said a limited amount of editions may be made and asked if it would be okay if he called the new modded HP to be called the Gjallarhorn JM Edition (in my honor he said) ... wow what an honor it would be... I just want to do more tests to make sure we nail it as good as it could be together- again I am not making any money on these Kennertons - only want to see the best put forward for all...

I play alternative industrial rock bands such as Ministry, Skinny Puppy all the time with my modded Ghorn- and love it. The adjustable bass ports in the mod make it a truly addicting sound like being among the very best speakers with satisfying deep deep bass

Is ghorn the one to go for?

In my opinion having both- if you decide to do mods then yes- if you don't decide to do any mods it's still a worthy hp for price and construction- but you will love the mods more than any other HP they are that good-

Cool thanks. Are any of their other models also suitable for metal?

Even without doing the mods I'm blown away at the power of Gjallarhorn. Nice detail, imaging, bass has very good impact and good vocals.

Its whats so great about them, for me I needed and could do so many things to make it just my perfect HP- the first being bending the left and right metal as discussed in review- that made a huge difference from out of the box fit and overall dynamics- the bass plugs was the next and the fluffy dots was the very thing that made my jaw drop-

Any mod is must have? No, absolutely not.

Do this only if you want to experiment with sound and tune some nuances. There is a great optimized sound out of the box.

I like deep accurate bass only if it’s in the recording
I don’t like exaggeration or mid bass bloat
